Getting My Father into Stock Trading
January 27th 2012 -
After my father retired from his work, he asked me where he could place a portion of his money as some form of investment. He initially wanted to setup a business but I dissuaded him from doing so because it would be like working again for him. Placing the money on the bank would not give his money the increase that he desired since interest rates were too low. I suggested that he invest some of his money on stocks. My father however told me that he does not know anything about stock trading. It was then that I suggested to him to get services of a stock broker who would be handling his account on how to buy stocks. I too was into stock trading through my online broker. I told him that for a very minimal fee, the broker would take care of making studies on what stocks to buy. I told my father that the final decision on what to buy would still rest on him.
